BREAKING: Britney Performs LIVE Again!!!

Turns out that all those weeks of intense preparation and dance rehearsals that Britney Spears has been taking lately were for a good reason and not for the sake of keeping fit. For the past couple of days, the Internet has been literally ablaze with rumors about Brit Brit going on a mini-tour with her dancers, under the not yet famous name of The M+Ms. Oh, my God, can you even imagine the anticipation?! Be still, my heart!

The rumor was so widely spread that, at one point, it was even considered official, despite the fact that neither Britney nor her management even mentioned such a thing. Even more, when the paparazzi repeatedly caught up with the tabloid queen and asked her about plans for a tour, not only did she answer in the negative but she also seemed quite surprised as to where that might have come from. Questions like 'Britney, are you going to be performing in San Diego at the House of Blues?' or 'Britney, are you gonna give your fans a preview of your comeback with a mini-tour?' were answered the same: 'No, I'm sorry'.

Yesterday, those who bought tickets for what was rumored to be one of Britney's first stops (House of Blues in downtown San Diego) were disappointed to see that, apparently, the singer had canceled her appearance, on the grounds that she wasn't yet ready. Well, safe to say, those who did not run out to sell their tickets to some other 'suckers' were in for a treat last night. About 1000 people got to see the pop star, live, on stage, for the first time in many years.

Sure, live is not quite the term that would best describe the 15 minutes she performed, since rumor has it she lip-synched as usual. But, hey, she was there and she danced and looked awesome once again! According to those who were witnesses to such a historical event ('cause that's what it was) say Britney's number lasted for about 15 minutes and that she sang four songs, among which there was also her first hit, 'Baby One More Time', and her last hit to date, 'Toxic'.

While many were disappointed to see that her time on stage was so short, telling the media that this was definitely 'not a smart career move' for her, we should focus instead on the fact that this mini-tour is as unexpected as it is wonderful. After months and months in which Britney's career has been limited only to the tabloid coverage she got for her hectic life, it's good to finally have confirmation of her determination to be back in the top.

Like it or not, Spears still has a very loyal and large fanbase and many (who don't fall into this category) wondered all the time about her ability to ever make it back, especially after the public downfall she had not long ago. Yes, me included. Somehow, the fact that she kept going periodically to dance rehearsals and the recording studio wasn't enough to convince the world of her intention of reclaiming the crown of Princess of Pop that she so proudly donned in the past years. Now, all haters be silent!
