Today, Bitstream Inc. announced that its BOLT Mobile Browser had received the CTIA Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Award in the Mobile Applications – Entertainment / Social Networking category. The BOLT Mobile Browser 1.7 was named winner during the E-Tech Awards ceremony, which took place at the International CTIA WIRELESS 2010 in Las Vegas on March 24. The awards presented there recognized products in 15 categories in various areas, including consumer electronics, luxury mobile, applications, enterprise and more.

“This year’s E-Tech Awards showcased the latest must-have products available for both consumers and the enterprise – from innovative applications, to green technology and luxury products,” said Heather Lee Landers, assistant vice president of marketing for CTIA. “We congratulate Bitstream on receiving a CTIA E-Tech Award.”

As most of you might already know, Bitstream has also unveiled a new version of its browser at the CTIA Wireless conference, namely BOLT 2.0, which was released in a beta flavor, and which came along with a nice range of new features. Among them, we can count tabbed browsing, tighter integration with Facebook, including support for Facebook’s instant messaging service, a faster widget gallery, server upgrade to WebKit 4.03, and more. In addition to the new beta version of the browser, Bitstream also enables users download the previous Bolt 1.7 version, as well as a BOLT Lite variant, all available for free on the company's website.

“CTIA WIRELESS marked three key milestones for the BOLT Mobile Browser,” said Anna Magliocco-Chagnon, president and CEO of Bitstream. “Our adoption rate recently surpassed 25,000 new users per day, adding more than 1 million users in the month leading up to CTIA. During CTIA Bitstream announced the beta of BOLT 2.0, our newest browser that adds tabbed browsing to what is already the most fully-featured mobile browser in the market. But to have been selected as the best entertainment and social networking mobile application in the most prestigious industry award in North America by such an august panel of judges is true recognition for the hard work, innovation and imagination of Bitstream’s developers and engineers.”

V2 Beta very impressive on Blackberry Bold. Used to use Opera Mini, but they seem to have added so much of late, to become all things to all people that the beauty of simplicity has been lost. So switched to Bolt and haven't looked back.
