BLU is a relatively new brand in the smartphone industry, but a very popular one among customers who prefer mid- to low-range devices.

Although the company is focusing its production on Android devices, BLU is also a Microsoft partner.

This means that BLU has also released some Windows Phone handsets, which are already available on the market. BLU Wind HD debuted last year in September with Windows Phone 8.1 right out of the box.

It looks like the firm's cheap Windows Phone handset was pretty popular in the United States because BLU has decided to release an improved version of the Win HD.

The new device was called BLU Win HD LTE, and beginning this week, it is available for purchase through Microsoft Store. Customers who wish to grab this cheap but more than decent Windows Phone handset can do so for only $200 outright.

The BLU Win HD LTE is a major upgrade over the previous model not just because it brings LTE support into the mix.

LTE support and better processor

For example, the BLU Win HD also comes with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 306 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

It comes with a similar 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution with 294ppi (pixel per inch).

On the back, the smartphone packs an 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, whereas on the front there's a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

BLU Win HD LTE features only 8GB of internal memory, but users can further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

It's also worth mentioning that the smartphone is powered by a 2,500mAh removable battery, which should provide up to 30 hours of talk time (22 hours in 3G mode).

The Win HD LTE ships with Windows Phone 8.1 operating system out of the box, but Microsoft claims that the smartphone will receive an upgrade to Windows 10 for Phones.
