US-based OEM BLU has just announced the upcoming availability of its Vivo 4.8 HD mid-range smartphone. The device will be available for purchase in the United States for only $250 (€180) off contract, which makes a good deal considering its specs sheet.

BLU Vivo 4.8 HD ships with Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but the phone is upgradeable through BLU's over-the-air Wireless Update Feature.

According to BLU Products, the Vivo 4.8 HD is available in multiple color options including Matte Black, Ceramic White, Electric Neon Yellow and Glimmer Pink.

As the name suggests, the smartphone sports a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Nex Lens and Infinite View technologies.

Hardware-wise, the Vivo 4.8 HD is equipped with a quad-core MediaTek MT6589T processor clocked at 1.5GHz, a PowerVR SGX544 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

The smartphone comes with 16GB of storage inside and a 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features BSI sensor, autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p@30fps) video recording. A 5-megapixel camera in the front is included as well.

Other highlights of the Vivo 4.8 HD include Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, as well as microUSB, 3.5mm headphone jack and 2,000 mAh Li-Ion battery which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

“We are dedicated and will continue expanding our VIVO smartphone series of smartphone devices, known for their Super AMOLED Technology displays, resulting in remarkably bright and vivid color reproduction, with the best viewing experience and contrast ratio available on a mobile phone today,” said Samuel Ohev Zion, CEO of BLU Products.

“Additional to the extraordinary display quality, the VIVO 4.8 HD focuses on amazing design, resulting in a gorgeous and unique device for consumers which appreciate fashion and exclusivity,” concluded Zion.
