The smartphone packs 1GB of RAM and 5-megapixel camera

Good news for Android enthusiasts in the United States complaining that they don't have the same interesting offers that are available overseas, as BLU Products has just announced the immediate availability of a new affordable device, the Studio 5.5.

The unlocked version of BLU Studio 5.5 is available for purchase for only $180 (€130) off contract at major retailers such as Amazon and Best Buy, as well as thousands of operator and MVNO dealer stores throughout the United States.

Besides the United States, the smartphone can be bought throughout 30 countries in Latin America, including Brazil and Mexico, with several operator and retailer partners.

Moreover, customers get to choose from no less than five color options available for BLU Studio 5.5: Slate-Grey, Cyan-Blue, Neon-Yellow, Fashion-Fuchsia and Ceramic-White.

As the name suggests, the smartphone boasts a huge 5.5-inch FWVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution.

The phablet ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and packs a more than decent 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor and 1GB of RAM.

More importantly, it offers dual-SIM support, HSPA+ connectivity and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB). It also packs 4GB of internal memory.

On the back, the BLU Studio 5.5 features 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front, there's a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

According to BLU Products, any future software updates and upgrades that the phone might receive will be automatically downloaded through its over-the-air Wireless Update Feature.
