Big brand names like Samsung, Lenovo or ASUS might steal much of the spotlight at events such as the CES 2014, but they are by far the only companies coming out with interesting products.

Relatively unknown BLU Products has recently been upping its game, releasing a host of smartphones with nice specs and affordable prices. But the company has also pushed out a new tablet model.

This time, it is an 8-incher and the device-maker calls it the Life View Tab. Compared to smartphones, the tablet’s specs are a bit disappointing, as the product features a bland 1,024 x 768 pixel resolution, a Quad-Core 1.2 GHz CPU paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and a 5MP camera.

The tablet ships with Android 4.2 out of the box, but BLU says the tablet will receive the Android 4.4 update later this year.

Life View Tab will be made available before January comes to an end in both Steel Blue and White flavors (3G 850/1900/2100 or 850/1700/1900) and will cost $199 / €146.
