14 DAY TRIAL // BLU Products, well known for its cheap but quite decent-featured smartphones, has just announced the upcoming availability of BLU LIFE PRO in the United States, Brazil and Mexico.
According to BLU, this is the thinnest smartphone that sports a 5-inch display. BLU LIFE PRO measures 147 x 72.1 x 6.9mm and weighs 158g (battery included).
Aside from the fact that it’s only 6.9mm thin, BLU LIFE PRO features a sleek and stylish aluminum construction design and lots of improvements and upgrades over the previous LIFE Series devices.
“The BLU LIFE PRO is an accomplishment of engineering as much as one of design. Every detail and material - particularly the sleek aluminum enclosure - has been meticulously considered and refined. It's made with a level of precision you'd expect from a finely crafted watch, not a smartphone,” said Samuel Ohev-Zion, CEO of BLU Products.
Although the smartphone ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, BLU has confirmed that future updates will be available OTA (over the air).
As mentioned earlier, BLUE LIFE PRO sports a large 5.0-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features OGS and Full Lamination technologies.
Hardware-wise, the smartphone comes equipped with a powerful 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589T processor, which is complemented by a PowerVR SGX544 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.
The BLU LIFE PRO packs 16GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).
There’s also an enhanced 12-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features BSI sensor, autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p @ 30 fps) video recording. In the front, the phone sports a 5-megapixel camera with an extremely wide field of view for self-portraits.
Other highlights of the phone include: 4G HSPA+ (42Mbps) connectivity, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0, as well as Radio FM, GPS with A-GPS and 2500 mAh Li-Ion battery.
BLU has also confirmed that the smartphone is now shipping to distributors and dealers throughout the United States, Brazil, and Mexico and will be available from retail partners such as Amazon for just $300 (€220) off contract.
