US-based company BLU is well known for its affordable Android and Windows Phone handsets that are mostly available in North and South America. Many of the devices that BLU Products launched in the last couple of months were powered by older Android versions.

But the company is about to fix that beginning today. BLU Products has just announced that it will have more devices upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The first to receive the Lollipop update will be BLU Studio X and Studio X Plus. Android 5.0 for these two smartphones should start rolling out today, but since it's pushed OTA (over the air), it might take a few days to reach all devices.

“BLU is committed to bringing the latest software and hardware improvements to meet consumer demands of great looking smartphones, priced for everyone without having to sacrifice quality, design, and software enhancements,” said Samuel Ohev-Zion, CEO of BLU Products.

Exact release dates will be announced closer to launch

As mentioned earlier, these won't be the only BLU smartphones to be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop. It looks like eight other handsets will receive the same treatment over a period of three months starting May.

That being said, here is the full list of smartphones that are eligible for Android 5.0 Lollipop update: BLU Studio G, BLU Star 4.5, BLU Studio 6.0 HD, BLU Life One (2015), BLU Life One XL, BLU Vivo Air, BLU Life 8 XL, and BLU Studio Energy.

The first three smartphones should get the update sometime in May, while the other five are expected to be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop beginning July 2015.

Android 5.0 Lollipop update will bring lots of new features and improvements to all these BLU smartphones, such as Material Design, battery saver feature, better notifications and new quick settings.
