BLAG 70000 (Sugarwater) was released two days ago, with Fedora 7 as its base and a huge number of applications, under the GNU GPL v3. BLAG is a completely free distribution with all the tools needed for a desktop computer and more.
This Linux distribution comes on a single CD, it is very easy to install, being also user friendly. It includes a repository that combines parts from Fedora, freshrpms, Dries, ATrpms, livna, Planet CCRMA and its own specific packages.
Although it is only on one disc, it is equipped with a large variety of applications. Some of them are:
Inkscape
This application has inkboard enabled,
so a user can work on drawing collaboratively with other persons using Jabber.
Mplayer and Xine
Two of the best video players, plus mencoder to re-encode audio and video will make most of the users happy.
Audio Players and Editors
Listen, an interesting application that has some similar functions with those of Amarok (automatic playlist and album integration, playlist grouping etc.) is the main audio player. Audacious took the place of Xmms. Audacity lets you edit sound files fast and easy.
DVD Ripping
For doing some DVD ripping, Thoggen was included, application that converts directly to theora format. For CD ripping, the old grip does its job well.
Instant Messaging
Pidgin is the default multi-protocol instant messenger, handling Jabber, AOL, Yahoo, IRC, MSN and other networks, equipped with encryption and "off the record" plugins for improved privacy.
Internet Browsing and E-mail
Firefox and Thunderbird from Mozilla will do their job well on BLAG Sugarwater.
Radio Listening and Broadcasting
With streamtuner you can tune into streaming radio stations on the Internet, and streamripper records them. If you want to broadcast your own radio station, you can use icecast and MuSE.
Internet TV
Miro will let you download high-quality shows directly to your hard-disk, and watch your favorite shows.
Desktop Environments
GNOME is the default desktop, on which BLAG is built on, but Fluxbox is included on the CD,too. When you get bored of GNOME, you can try Fluxbox.
The above mentioned features are only a few of those included on BLAG 70000, a Linux distribution that is very promising.
