Today's BIOS pick list  includes new software designed to enhance the compatibility of some older motherboards manufactured by notorious brand MSI.

It's the case of no less than four motherboards loaded with Intel's G41 chipset, running with CPUs belonging to the LGA775 class, such as the Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Duo 45 nm units. The new BIOS enhances the memory support and will add stability to the systems.

The star of the day is a nifty Asus notebook, the X54HY. While not being a notebook to write home about, the Asus X54HY can easily be the right choice for someone looking for decent processing power and portability.

Asus X54HY can be bought equipped with either a Core i3 or a Dual Core CPU, and can be delivered with up to 4 GB DDR3. The graphics side is covered by the discrete 1GB VRAM AMD Radeon HD 6470 card feeding the 1366 x 768 HD LED display or the VHA/ HDMI outputs.

This notebooks sports the same disappointing 0.3 MP camera so video calls will look rather lousy. On the audio side, the X54HY is a tad better, as it sports Altec Lansing speakers. Add in the 4-cell 2600 mAh battery and you get a decent portable computer with only one really modern feature: the USB 3.0 port.

And here's the BIOS of the day: Lenovo ThinkCentre A58e BIOS Toshiba Satellite A300 BIOS Asus X54HY Notebook BIOS 208 ECS X77H2-A3 (V1.2) BIOS 03/05/2012 MSI G41M-P26 BIOS 26.8 MSI G41M-P28 BIOS 26.8 MSI G41M-P33 Combo Bios 32.4 MSI G41M-P43 Combo BIOS 32.4

As both hardware and software evolve, old BIOSes might become unstable or simply prevent you from using your computer to its full potential.

Therefore, it is highly recommended to always use the most recent BIOS version available. Do not forget to check with our site as often as possible in order to stay updated on the latest BIOS files.
