The Ivy Bridge-E series of central processing units haven't been launched yet, but motherboards that support them already exist.

Sure, most LGA 2011 socket platforms weren't made with Ivy Bridge-E in mind, but with Sandy Bridge-E.

However, companies, like ASUS in this case, have put together BIOS updates that will allow X79 chipset-based motherboards to run the upcoming processors.

In case people haven't been keeping up with reports, Ivy Bridge-E will be the ultra high-end CPU platform for Haswell, just like Sandy Bridge-E was for Ivy Bridge.

The chips will be called Core i7-4960X Extreme Edition, Core i7-4930K, and Core i7-4820K.

ASUS ROG Rampage IV Extreme is getting BIOS version 4206, while ROG Rampage IV Formula gets support through BIOS version 4004.

That leaves TUF Sabertooth X79 and the P9X79 Series with BIOS version 4104/4106, and micro-ATX ROG Rampage IV Gene with BIOS version 4206.

All the updates should be up for download here: Socket LGA 2011 BIOS.
