BFG Technologies, one of the largest NVIDIA-based graphics card makers, has just added a new product to its portfolio. Simply dubbed Phobos, the new model comes as a fully-configured high-performance desktop computer system, designed to accommodate the requirements of multimedia and gaming enthusiasts. The company that up until now has provided its customers with graphics cards, motherboards and power supply units, has designed the Phobos as a fully-fledged gaming rig, taking advantage of the very latest in desktop computing technology.

 

The Phobos is offered in three different pre-configured base models, which can then be used to add more options. The cheapest model, dubbed Performance, comes at $3000, while the Advanced version is said to cost you $5000, which is still $3000 cheaper than the Elite model, which will cost you a mind-blowing $8000. At that price, you can start thinking of a new low-cost car.

 

If the price tag hasn't blown you away by now, you can take a look at what the Phobos can provide you with. As you might have expected, the system has been equipped with the highest-performance processor on the market, the Intel Core i7 965 Extreme Edition, rated at a clock speed of 3.2GHz. The system is based on the MSI Eclipse Intel X58 motherboard and boasts 6GB of DDR3 1600MHz Patriot memory. The rig will feature two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 graphics cards in SLI and one GeForce GTX 285 for dedicated PhysX processing. Four Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB hard drives have been installed to ensure the storage solution, while an Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1 sound card deals with the system's audio performance.

 

The Phobos also features a Coolit Contained Liquid Cooling solution (for the GPU and CPU) and a BFG LS-1200 High Efficiency power supply. Additional features that set the Phobos apart from most gaming rigs include the 8-inch interactive touch panel LCD and the integrated iPhone/iPod syncing dock.
