BFG Technologies, one of NVIDIA's largest graphics card partners, has just announced that it has begun taking orders for its first computer system, the newly announced Phobos, a gaming rig specifically designed for technology enthusiasts. With the announcement, the company has also put out a website where users can tune in and place their orders for the high-end rig, also being able to configure the system with the necessary high-performance hardware components, designed to meet their requirements.

“Based on the reaction at CES in our booth and the resulting positive news coverage, it is clear to me that Phobos will be a great differentiating strategy for BFG Technologies,” said Jen-Hsun Huang, president and CEO of NVIDIA Corporation. “Phobos is a great example of how the era of white box PCs has evolved into a new realm of innovation and distinguished design. Congratulations to the entire BFG team who have demonstrated their commitment to the PC enthusiast who desires both form and function.”

BFG's Phobos has been designed to take advantage of the latest computer hardware, like Intel's highest-performance consumer processors to date, the Core i7, or NVIDIA's latest 55nm GeForce graphics cards, combined to deliver a mind-blowing performance. All that power required a serious cooling system, which is why the graphics card maker decided to integrate the CoolIt Contained Liquid Cooling Solutions, capable of keeping both the CPU and the GPU to an acceptable temperature in high-performance situations.

Aside from being a serious gaming rig, the new Phobos from BFG has also been designed to serve as a home theater command center, which is why it has been featured with Microsoft's Windows Vista Ultimate with Media Center, also offering four hard drive bays, RF remote and TV tuner with DVR functionality. In addition, for all those multimedia fans out there, the Phobos has even been fitted with an integrated iPod/iPhone syncing dock.

Price-wise, the Phobos is a rig that many will only be able to dream of, as the cheapest configuration starts at $3000, while a serious gaming behemoth starts at $8000.
