As expected, BFG Tech, one of NVIDIA's best channel partners, has announced its overclocked GTX 260 and GTX 280 cards. With three levels of overclocking power for both GPUs, enthusiast users can now choose the level of performance that best suites their needs. The OC, OC2 and OCX editions are available for both GTX200-series cards.

BFG is known for offering some of the best NVIDIA-based graphics cards available on the market. In the field of factory overclocked graphics cards, BFG competes with other NVIDIA partners such as EVGA, XFX or ASUS. So the new offer comes as no surprise and was probably expected by a number of tweakers and overclockers who want to deal with the best in graphics performance.

The new GTX 260 OC version brings a slight boost in the card's core/shader clock speed, with just 590MHz and 1295MHz for the GPU and Shader clock, respectively. The OC2 takes things a bit further and offers a GTX 260 card clocked at 630MHz (versus 576MHz for the standard version). For the Shader and Memory clock, BFG speeds up from 1242MHz and 1998MHz (for the standard version), to 1350MHz and 2126MHz, respectively. The OCX version offers a peak performance for a GTX 260-based graphics card, with a core/shader/memory speed of 655MHz/1404MHz/2250MHz, improving the memory bandwidth to 126GB/sec.

The same goes for the GeForce GTX280 card which, for the OC version, offers a clock speed of 615MHz and a shader clock of 1350MHz. The OC2 model boasts a 650MHz GPU with the Shaders clocked at 1404MHz and the memory set to run at 2326MHz. The GeForce GTX280 OCX is currently BFG's best-performance offer, as it sports a 665MHz GPU speed. This card's Shaders have been clocked at 1458MHz, while the memory clock has been set to 2400MHz.

Remember that all of these cards are equipped with a standard dual-slot cooling solution, which means that a custom cooling solution might improve the above mentioned clock rates. For more details on these cards, be sure to check out the manufacturer's website.
