Even if NVIDIA is yet to officially
announce the 55nm G92 graphics card, the GeForce 9800GTX+, most of its board partners have already listed it among other products. Even more, despite the fact that the new cards have barely arrived, one of NVIDIA's best channel partners, BFG, has already come out with an OC version of the G92b GPU.
Just as a
reminder, BFG is not among those NVIDIA board partners that are rumored to be on the verge of leaving the Santa Clara based graphics manufacturer. With all that, BFG too had to come up with a reimbursement plan for its GTX280- and GTX260-based cards. Now that that’s in the clear, let us take a look at one of the company's latest cards.
As mentioned above, the
new card is based on the latest (yet to be officially announced) NVIDIA GPU, the G92b. This means that it equips a 55nm graphics processor that has been overclocked at 760MHz, compared with the 738MHz found on stock models. The card incorporates 512MB of GDDR3 memory clocked at 2250 MHz, which translates into a 50MHz boost from the standard version. The 128 Stream processors have been set at 1890MHz, whereas stock models provide users with just 1836MHz.
Because the overclock levels aren't that high, BFG decided to keep the stock dual-slot cooler. The other technical details of the card are similar to those of the standard version, which means that users will have on their hands a PCI Express 2.0-supporting card that offers full DirectX 10 support for the latest game titles. At only €167, the card could prove to be the most reliable upgrade solution for an SLI-enabled, high-end desktop gaming rig.
If we take in consideration the fact that BFG has some of the best NVIDIA-based graphics cards, we could easily presume that it will soon release OC2 and OCX versions of the GeForce 9800GTX+.
