At the BET Awards 2013, held and aired live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, Jamie Foxx capped off what can only be described as a spectacular year, taking home the award for Best Actor.

Video of his acceptance speech is embedded below, at the end of this blog post.

As you can see, Foxx also chose the awards gala to make yet another powerful statement on the need to stop the violence, by wearing a Trayvon Martin t-shirt.

Martin was a teenager who was shot and killed a little over a year ago, with the case making international headlines because of suspicion that the murder might have been racially motivated.

George Zimmerman of the neighborhood watch is now on trial for the murder.

This is not the first time that Foxx speaks up for the Martin case: at the MTV Movie Awards, he also wore a tee with the picture of the slain teen, surrounded by photos of the young victims of the Newtown, Connecticut shooting, and the caption “Know Justice, Know Peace.”
