At last night's BET Awards 2012, Mariah Carey led the heartfelt tribute for the late Whitney Houston. You can see her speech in the video above – in poor quality, for the time being.

Mariah recalled her “good friend” Whitney and how much fun they used to have back in the day, when people still thought they were rivals in every sense of the word.

She also spoke about Whitney's music and how it, together with the memory of what a wonderful human being she was, would be her legacy throughout the years.

“I miss my friend. I miss hearing her voice and laughter, but we'll always, we'll always have the music. We will always have the music!” Mariah said fighting back tears.

“We'll always have that voice we all fell in love with. She inspired us all. We'll always have my friend, Miss Whitney Houston,” she added.

Mariah introduced Whitney's mother, Cissy Houston, who sang “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”
