BlackBerry announced earlier this month that it would bring lots of new features to its BBM application on all major mobile platforms, including Android, iOS, BlackBerry and Windows Phone.

However, since then, only the Android and BlackBerry versions of BBM have been updated with the new features promised by the Canadian company.

Well, beginning today, iOS users will be able to take advantage of the new features as well, given that BlackBerry has just released a new version of BBM in App Store.

First of all, BBM for iPhone now allows users to share photos directly in group chats. The chats have been enhanced, thus making them easier to read.

An extra layer of security has been added too, so iPhone users can now lock BBM with a passcode and Touch ID if available. Moreover, landscape support has been added as well, along with the option to delete chats by swiping.

The newest version of BBM for iPhone now features D's and R's for all file transfer types. Last but not least, there are two new features included in the update, as part of BlackBerry's monetization plans for BBM.

A monthly subscription is required for some of these new features

The first one is the ability to customize your PIN in order to make it easier to remember for your friends. This is only available with a monthly subscription. The second new feature is the option to remove ads, which requires a monthly subscription.

The subscription for each of these features is $0.99 per month and BlackBerry has confirmed that it will add more paid services in future updates, so stay tuned for more on this one.

If you don't have the application installed yet, you can now download BBM for iPhone via App Store. The application is fully compatible with all iPhone devices powered by iOS 7.0 and up.
