It allows users to pay for access to specific features

The beta version of BlackBerry Messenger has just received an important update that brings some interesting new features and a few improvements.

Those who have been opted in the beta program will receive the update automatically, so if you haven't been invited in the bate version, you won't be able to take advantage of the new feature.

However, it's worth taking a look at what BlackBerry has decided to add to the beta, as these new features will eventually be pushed to the stable iteration.

First of all, the latest update brings a new Subscription service, which allows BBM users to pay for exclusive access to certain features.

For example, they could pay for Vanity PINs, which would allow them to customize their own personal BBM PIN for an easier communication with friends.

Additionally, BBM for iOS users can pay to remove the ads inside the application. As soon as you pay for it, the application will automatically hide sponsored ads and sponsored invites in BBM.

Last but not least, a new exclusive service put under pay wall is called Avatar Badging and will basically show off a user's special BBM status with a badge. This badge also appears on display pictures that have an active subscription.

Monthly payments are required for these options to remain active

Because these services are subscription-based, they require monthly payments, which can be done via BBM Shop.

Those who have access to BBM for iOS beta will also receive a free one-month trial of access to all options included in BBM Subscription service.

As CrackBerry mentions, this update is now available in TestFlight, so those with a valid account and invitation can download and install the latest version of BBM for iOS beta.

Some of the prices published for these Subscription options show that Vanity PIN will cost $1.99 per month and the removal of the ads will be $0.99 monthly.

Keep in mind that given the fact that this is a beta version, these prices may not be final and BlackBerry may decide to change them.

Update: BBM for BlackBerry beta has been updated as well and those who have it installed will get the same new features.
