It looks like BlackBerry has finally decided to bring BBM Channels to Windows Phone users. This particular feature has been available to Android and iOS users for quite a while, but as always, Windows Phone users get it much later.

That being said, Windows Phone users who would like to take advantage of the new BBM Channels only need to update to the latest version of the application.

According to BlackBerry, “BBM for Windows Phone just got more social with the addition of BBM Channels. Starting today, Windows Phone users have a new place to join conversations happening right now between people, brands and communities. In real-time you can discover and connect with other #TeamBlackBerry members on subjects that interest you.”

There isn't too much to say about the latest update, just that Windows Phone users will now be able to create and manage their own BBM Channel to post messages, share pictures, initiate discussions, as well as chat directly with subscribers, without having to leave BlackBerry Messenger.

Bookmark your favorite BBM Channels

There are lots of BBM Channels out there that Windows Phone users can check out, from the most diverse areas, including Photography, Drinks, Since, Gastronomy and many more.

If you find something worthy of your time, you can even favorite the channels that you would like to follow. Obviously, they can also be shared via Twitter or other social networks.

BlackBerry recently updated its Android and iOS applications with many new features and improvements, some of them being available with the payment of a subscription fee.

We expect these new features to be added to the Windows Phone application as well, though the timeline is unknown for the moment.

In case you don't have the application installed yet, you can now download BBM for Windows Phone 2.1.0.16 for free via Windows Phone Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8 and up.
