The latest update contains only a small bug fix for a particular issue

BlackBerry released a major update for BBM for Android and iOS a few days ago, which added some new features and improvements meant to enhance new users’ overall experience.

However, it appears that the update introduced a small bug as well, which affected some Android users in certain situations. Luckily, the bug has been fixed quite fast by BlackBerry’s engineers, so there shouldn’t be any problems with the application now.

Some Android users who updated to version 2.2 of BBM reported that they were receiving delayed messages after closing BBM. The newest update for the instant messenger is supposed to fix this issue, as mentioned earlier.

Aside from this bug fix, no other enhancements or new features have been included, so don’t expect any other improvements yet. For those who have not updated to version 2.2 yet, here is a short recap of what to expect.

The features are simpler sign up for new BBM users, better experience for adding new BBM contacts by email, 16 new emoticons, new sign in screen for current BBM users and various bug fixes and performance improvements.

You can now download BBM for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with most devices powered by Android 2.3.3 and up.
