Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion has just announced the availability of its BBM Music on the market in the UK, after making it available for users in the United States, Canada and Australia only last week.

The new mobile service was unveiled to the world back in August, but RIM needed a few months to apply the final touches to it, it seems.

The music streaming service brings along songs from Universal, Sony, Warner and EMI, providing users with a vast catalog of tracks, albums and artists.

Through the new service, BlackBerry users in the UK can easily share favorite songs with their friends, while enjoying a number of 50 free songs.

In addition to enabling access to the aforementioned pool of tracks, the service also enables people to share songs with their friends, and to listen to songs that their friends have shared with them.

This means that users can benefit from more free music while on the go as more of their friends join the service and start sharing songs. Not to mention that they can swap 25 of these songs with new ones each month.

However, this is only one of the appealing features that BlackBerry users can benefit from through the new service.

BBM Music also enables users to create playlists, and also provides them with the ability to chat with their contacts in real time. The music is cached to the phone's microSD memory card for listening when offline.

“More than 45 million customers already love the social communication benefits delivered through BBM and we are thrilled to be extending the experience into a uniquely social and interactive music service,” Mike Lazaridis, president and co-CEO at Research In Motion, said.

“We have partnered with leading music companies to provide a 'full track' music sharing and discovery experience that will provide users with quality music on demand and allow them to connect with friends on a whole new level.”

In the UK, the service arrives with a price tag of £4.99 per month attached to it. You can learn more on the service via RIM's website.
