BlackBerry has been improving its BBM application on all platforms and unlike many other developers that prefer to ignore the Windows Phone platform, the Canadian company is really interested in having a great app on all mobile OSes.

That being said, Windows Phone users will be pleased to know that BlackBerry has just released a new version of BBM beta in the Windows Phone store.

While this is a big update, it doesn't really bring any new features into the mix. However, in this update BlackBerry fixes a bunch of issues reported by users.

For example, the bug that causes BBM to bring up the “Find friends” screen intermittently when restarting the application has been addressed in this update. Also, some BBM crashes when trying to add an image when posting should be addressed too.

But there are more fixes implemented by BlackBerry for bugs, such as the inability to add screenshots when adding a post with an image, or the Feeds tab not displaying splat on Channel or Contacts updates.

Some freezes and slow downs on HTC devices have been addressed too

Developers also fixed an issue with newly created Channel appearing with a join icon on search. Some BBM freezes after sending or receiving a Sticker should have been removed after updating as well.

Last but not least, BlackBerry confirmed that the update should address a problem where BBM is slow to load featured / owned / subscribed Channels on HTC devices.

If you don't have the application installed yet, you can now download BBM beta for Windows Phone for free via Windows Phone Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8 and up.

Keep in mind that this is a work in progress, so you might still encounter issues or freezes in BBM beta for Windows Phone.
