A programmer from the BBC says that the delay of the iPlayer service for the Xbox One home console is linked to issues that the development team has with the new Kinect motion tracking system that Microsoft implemented.

NeoGAF quotes the unnamed source as saying that, “We can’t seem to get it working; it is causing a major development headache for the team.”

The programmer was unwilling to offer more details and the official position of the BBC is that the delay on the Wii U and the Xbox One will be minimal.

Since the new home consoles were announced, both Sony and Microsoft have insisted that they will be capable of delivering varied entertainment experiences for users.

At the moment, the PlayStation 4 seems to have a slightly larger list of apps that are up and running, but most customers still buy them based on the video games.
