“Sherlock” fans have a very good reason to celebrate today because, after Martin Freeman set tongues wagging by revealing plans for a Christmas special a few days ago, BBC One is confirming it. You will have to wait some more, though, because it doesn’t air until 2015.

On the bright side, that’s not all that the network has announced on Twitter: we also have start dates for the production both on the special and the fourth season of the series, aka that one that many people were saying it would be impossible to shoot because of the busy schedules of leading men Benedict Cumberbatch and Freeman.

Well, as luck would have it, they have decided that said busy schedules will allow them time to do “Sherlock.”

The Christmas 2015 special starts shooting in January 2015, while production on the 3 episodes of season 4 will begin later in the year. They will air later in 2016, but “Sherlock” fans are patient.

And there’s more: “After the briefest of exiles, #Sherlock will return to face one of his biggest mysteries yet...,” BBC One says, “why is Moriarty’s face being broadcast on every television in the land?”

This tweet came with the photo above. If you’ve seen the final episode of season 3 already, you don’t need any more explaining: this is BBC One’s way of telling you that you were right on the money with your guess.
