Tragic news comes from El Cerrito, California, where a teenager has lost his life on the BART train tracks.

The station was closed down after a 16-year-old boy from Richmond died during the morning commute at El Cerrito del Norte.

BART spokesman Jim Allison described that the teen lost his life before 5:30 a.m. Officials believe that he has committed suicide, but the results of a formal investigation are pending.

The tracks were reopened by 8:15 a.m. and the station was operating as usual in the morning. A bus bridge was set in place to accommodate stranded travelers in the meantime.

Those missing the train in the three-hour gap were transported to stations in Richmond, El Cerrito del Norte, El Cerrito Plaza and North Berkeley, Contra Costa Times documented.

Access to the buses was limited and delays to other trains were reported as the tracks were cleared.

Authorities identify the victim as first-year Cerrito High School student, Fausto Delgado. He is survived by his parents and three siblings and mourned by an entire community.

“He was very well-loved.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. We're doing everything we can to make sure that the students get the help that they need, as well as the family,” Marin Trujillo, spokesman for the West Contra Costa Unified School District, says in a statement to the press.

The teenager’s motive for taking his own life are not known at this point, but psychologists at the school have met to discuss the issue.

“Psychologists were at the school and on the campuses where the victim's three siblings attend,” the San Francisco Chronicle informs, citing Trujillo’s release.
