Azureus, a tremendously popular Java-based BitTorrent client, has recently been updated to Vuze 3.1. That's right, not only does the application sport dozens of new additions and tweaks, but its has also been renamed. Vuze is available for free download right HERE. More info on the new stuff it brings is posted below.

Vuze is a great BitTorrent client that makes transferring files via the BitTorrent protocol more stable, more usable and speedier. Very actively developed, this latest version includes a new split-window MyTorrents view with support for categories, and advanced downloading / seeding / queuing rules for powerful and automated torrent management, a customizable user interface, seeding from read-only media, and significant reductions in resource usage, the developer notes.

Vuze is a multi-platform client that greatly extends the original python client's feature set. For example, Vuze can manage multiple downloads at once from a single GUI window, offer detailed real-time download statistics with export to XML, advanced download and seeding management rules, configuration and torrent creation wizards, embedded tracker for easy and automated hosting of your own files, PeerGuardian IP address filtering and web browser, and console UIs.

The BitTorrent client supports a total of 27 available languages, and now sports an even more powerful plugin interface. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Listed below, you have some highlights of Vuze (formerly Azureus) 3.1:

- Protocol overhead is now shown in the speed graph - Downloads can now be moved and renamed while running - torrent will be auto-paused - New "rename" action that renames torrent file, saves file and displays name at the same time - Plugin log views now support autoscrolling, pausing and regex filtering - Plugin menu items which in the right-click menu now appear in the "Torrent" menu too - Friends (sharing, bandwidth boost) - Greatly Improved Search

And these are just some of the new features. Tweaks and bug fixes also come in great numbers. Every little detail about the updated version of Azureus, now Vuze, is available here, as is a big, red download button that takes you straight to it.
