Things were pretty quiet for hit rock band Guns N'Roses (or what's left of it) until this year, when frontman Axl Rose started again to make waves, not on the concert stage as one might expect but by testing his attack and boxer skills on various persons.
The first incident of this type occurred in May when Axl started a fight with fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger in a nightclub. Yesterday, the Swedish police had to cuff and restrain the intoxicated star in order to calm him down.
It all went down at the hotel where the band met after a sold-out concert to party in big style. Reportedly, Rose was arguing and threatening to get physical with a woman (who later turned out to be his personal assistant) in the lobby of the Bens Hotel. A clerk and a security guard on the premises tried to break up the fight, but the rocker's behavior became more and more violent and he assaulted the security guard and bit his leg.
The police arrived a couple minutes before that, called by the frightened clerk, and had to use all necessary force to hold down the hysterical Rose. After being taken downtown, the Swedish press reports that Axl spent much of the day in a cell, as he was obviously to drunk to talk.
When he sobered up, he was charged with violent conduct, criminal damages and minor damages of property and paid a fine of about $5,500 and another $1,300 to the bitten guard. Guns N'Roses spokesperson stated that the 'incident' will not interfere with the touring program and that the band will still play tonight in Oslo, Norway.
