Axiotron, the company best known for producing the Modbook (a touchscreen-based Mac tablet), has recently announced a newly established, Germany-based subsidiary – Axiotron Europe Inc. & Co. KG (“Axiotron Europe”). The subsidiary will manage sales, service and support of Axiotron’s products in the European region.

According to the official report on Axiotron's website, Axiotron Europe is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Axiotron Corp., but also a limited partnership based in Berlin, Germany. The European subsidiary will serve as the focal point for Axiotron’s European business, generally working as the importer of records for its products.

“The subsidiary will exclusively manage the sale and service throughout the European region of the Modbook, the company’s product that integrates an Apple MacBook computer, a Wacom digitizer and Axiotron’s own hardware and software into a unique Mac tablet,” Axiotron explains. “Backed by Axiotron Europe’s dedicated Service Distribution Center in Berlin, Axiotron Europe will provide European warranty coverage – via its network of European Authorized Service Providers – for all products that customers purchase from its European Authorized Sales Partners.”

As avid Softpedia readers should know, Axiotron develops what is called a Modbook. The device is made from an original Apple MacBook, whose keyboard, trackpad and case are removed. The case is replaced by a much smaller shell, while additional software is needed to use the Mac OS via the touchscreen interface. The system is primarily aimed at (drawing) artists.

“Following its unique vision of Customizing Your World, Axiotron is dedicated to becoming a leading high-tech innovator through the conception and development of intriguing digital lifestyle products,” the company adds on its website. “In addition, Axiotron offers its product development expertise to companies in need of custom hardware solutions.”

The Modbook is already available in Europe through Authorized Sales Partners in Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. More locations in additional countries are to receive the Modbook, Axiotron promises.
