Academic and Artist discounts available for a limited time

Axiotron, the only company manufacturing and distributing Mac tablets today, has announced that academic customers and creative professionals are eligible for a significant discount on their purchase of a Modbook.

Axiotron develops what is called a Modbook. The device is made from an original Apple MacBook, whose keyboard, trackpad and case are removed. The case is replaced by a much smaller shell, while additional software is needed to use the Mac OS via the touchscreen interface. The system is primarily aimed at (drawing) artists.

“The award-winning Modbook offers students, educators and artists a unique, Mac-based tablet computer that is ideal for drawing, note-taking and presenting,” Axiotron upholds. “The following Modbook discount programs are available through participating Axiotron Authorized Dealers for a limited time only,” the company reveals on its website. The programs are available as follows:

Academic Discount Program – save $230 “Academic customers can get a new Modbook and save $230 off MSRP,” Axiotron says. “Students, faculty and staff — get your discount code now!” The offer expires on December 31, 2009.

Artist Discount Program – save $280 “Customers who buy eligible creative software can save $280 off MSRP on their Modbook purchase,” the company reveals, enumerating the respective pieces of software: Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, Photoshop CS4, Illustrator CS4, Dreamweaver CS4, After Effects CS4, InDesign CS4, Director 11, Lightroom 2, Creative Suite 4; Apple Aperture 2, Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Express 4, Logic Studio, Logic Express 9, Smith Micro Poser, Poser Pro, Anime Studio Pro, Manga Studio EX, Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac and Corel Painter 11. The offer stands until October 31, this year.

Combination Discount Program – save $330 “Combine both discounts! Academic customers who also purchase eligible creative software can save $330 off MSRP when they buy a new Modbook,” the offer, also available until the end of October, reads.
