Technical issues reveal she’s whispering into her mic, relying on pre-recorded vocals

Cheryl Cole has always denied not singing live, saying she was the real deal in everything she did, including her live performances. Her gig at last night’s Stand Up 2 Cancer gala could prove otherwise.

Check out the video above to see what went down. It was a truly awkward situation, no argument about it, but a tragedy it was not, regardless of what else you might read online.

The consensus is that there was an issue with the pre-recorded backing vocals, which explains why she’s whispering for almost half of the track: she can’t hear what’s wrong, so this is what she normally does, just whispers the words into the mic as if she were singing.

There are also those who say that her mic went out temporarily, which is why only whispers are heard from it. They are those who insist that Cheryl always sings live.

I don’t know about either, but I’m inclined to believe the former happened. Even if it did, it’s no tragedy: in Cheryl’s defense, the energetic dance routine would have justified such a move.

Let me know what you make of it.
