Coded by the same guy who was responsible for the N64 emulator, Dolphin

A nifty PSP emulator has been released for jailbroken iOS devices enabling Sony PlayStation fans to relive their favorite adventures on the touch-screen of their choice. The PPSSPP is still a work in progress, but it looks very promising.

Reportedly developed by the same person who coded a very popular Nintendo 64 emulator named Dolphin, PPSSPP is a state-of-the-art PlayStation Portable emulator which lets you load up game ROMs and play your favorite PSP titles on an iPad.

You’ll need to jailbreak your device before you do anything involving the PPSSPP, and the general rules of common sense also state that you actually have to own the games you attempt to play using this emulator.

For example, if you fancy a good time of WipeOut racing, be sure you have the UMD in a drawer around the house. It’s illegal to download and play games you don’t own, you know.

The developer says he still has to work out a lot of kinks, such as the speed at which PPSSPP runs games, some problems involving sound output, and other nerdy stuff.

We’re confident that in a few months’ time this PSP emulator will rock the iOS world. For now, though, you can only enjoy titles where you don’t plan to break any world records in gameplay achievements.
