She has made a reputation for herself with punk-rock, with heavy pop influences, hits like “Girlfriend” and the now-classic “Sk8er Boy,” but Avril Lavigne’s upcoming album will be all about growing up. Scheduled to drop in November this year, the yet-untitled project will mainly feature acoustic tracks relying heavily on Lavigne’s vocals, the singer herself reveals in a recent interview, as cited by MTV.

Lavigne’s fourth studio material will be different from her previous work on other counts as well, not only in terms of the sound approached. Unlike her previous albums, this one will be more of a “family thing,” in the sense that it carries tracks produced by Avril’s husband, Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley, and longtime collaborator Butch Walker, who also co-wrote some of Avril’s older tracks.

“A lot of the songs are mainly the acoustic and my vocal. It’s a lot different from anything I’ve done before. It’s not a pop-rock record. This is more about emotion and feeling.” Avril says by means of teasing fans just a bit with what is to come their way later this year. “I’m kind of just keeping it in the family with all of my close friends. I didn’t work with a ton of people this time.” the singer further reveals in the same interview.

What is more, while the project is still in heavy development, Lavigne is already thinking ahead, planning for a tour to support it as well, which will presumably take place towards the end of the year. Because the album tackles such a different sound than anything she’s tried before, Lavigne will also bring some changes into her live performances, revealing in the same interview that she’s considering singing in theaters across the US instead of large venues. “I feel it will really suit this record.” the singer explains.

“Though the album still doesn’t have a title, it does have a producer: Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley, who also happens to be Lavigne’s husband. Whibley handles production on eight of the record’s planned 12 tracks, with the remainder of the album helmed by frequent collaborator Butch Walker (the former Marvelous 3 frontman who has co-written Lavigne hits like ‘My Happy Ending’ and ‘When You’re Gone’). At least one of the songs from the album is already making the rounds, albeit in truncated form: ‘Black Star’ scores the just-released ad for Lavigne’s fragrance of the same name.” MTV reports.
