14 DAY TRIAL // Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger were married after a whirlwind and very surprising romance, in a gorgeous ceremony held in France. Only 14 months into their married life, they’re now targeted by a lot of divorce rumors, with insiders claiming that they have not been living as husband and wife for quite some time.
This would explain why Avril celebrated turning 30 in Las Vegas over the weekend and Chad was nowhere to be seen, as the Daily Mail points out. If their marriage is over, it would make no sense for him to hang around for her to party on this important landmark in her life.
Pop star parties the night away in the company of friends
Avril and her posse descended onto the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas this weekend, to party with fans and non-fans who had paid to see her there. She was dressed in a gorgeous strapless pink dress with nude pumps and seemed as happy as any other birthday girl out there about to have the time of her life. In the photo attached to this article, she’s shown with her sister and her best friend, after being presented with a birthday cake shaped like a giant cupcake. Cupcakes are Avril’s favorite sweet treats, so she was pleasantly surprised to see it. So far, so good. The first signs of trouble appear when you have a closer look at all the birthday photos and you realize that Chad was nowhere to be seen. Insiders have already confirmed that he wasn’t there. Birthday parties of this kind are actually paid endorsement deals: i.e. the birthday boy or gal is paid to show up and party the night away with strangers / fans. Everybody’s a winner in this: the club gets more exposure and a boost in sales, the celebrity gets to cash in another check, and fellow partygoers get to say they partied with X star. If that was really the case with Avril too, it would make sense for her not to string Chad along, who was probably seeing to his own business. They probably celebrated her birthday at home.
Still, what do you make of all those rumors?
Even if assuming that’s the case, there’s still no explaining the divorce rumors, which started picking up a lot of speed earlier this month. Insiders claim that Chad’s been telling everyone that their marriage is over, while Avril is confiding in friends that she’s done with his rude behavior. Admittedly, she’s also blaming him for less than stellar sales for her most recent album, after the single “Hello Kitty” caused such controversy online it translated into a temporary YouTube ban. On her big night out on the town, Avril also ditched her engagement ring, replacing it with a pearl one that matched her bracelet. That’s not the most telling part though: she seems to have removed all trace of Chad from her social media profiles, including the photo she posted on Twitter of the new, bigger and more expensive engagement ring he’d given her on their first wedding anniversary.
