Let's make this short: Britney Spears is out of rehab and apparently on her way back to where she was before, whatever that may be. Despite her good behavior lately, there still are some people who love to trash her now, out of all times and one of those persons is none other than the Queen of Spitting, Avril Lavigne.
While talking bad about Britney is not something that shocking, making waves right when the entire storm was about to die down is. And the fact that Miss Lavigne is currently promoting an album sure comes as happy coincidence, doesn't it?
In a series of interviews to promote her latest materials, Avril has dwelt repeatedly on today's hottest topic: Britney Spears, not to praise her or anything but, on the contrary, in an obvious attempt at making her the bad guy while she comes off as the good one. First off, Avril told the media that she became the star that she is because her mother literally dragged her at one of Britney's concerts, back in the day when she (Avril, that is) was younger. And, apparently, without a will of her own.
'My mom made me go to a Britney Spears concert when I was young. I was like "No, I don't want to." She was like "If you're going to be a performer, you need to see other people."', Avril said about the first time she saw Britney on stage. However, it's a far cry to say that Avril found inspiration in the pop star. In fact, Avril claims that she's everything that Britney is not, and even goes as far as to state that the only responsible for her public meltdown is herself.
'What's happened to Britney is all down to who she is as a person. If you want a piece of this business you have to be able to deal with it. You can't complain about the pressures, the paparazzi, the madness, because that's your job. ', the rocker said, adding that if you're a celebrity and you go on a drinking binge, the best way to keep your reputation unstained is to let 'no-one else know'. Now, that's a piece of advice that would have come in handy at the time Britney was reportedly barfing in bars and clubs. Wonder what took Avril so long before voicing it?
As closure, Avril even blames Brit for the latest scandal in her life, when she was sued by two paparazzi on which she spat. In another interview, she said that no one would have paid any attention to the whole thing if Spears had, like, worn underwear that week. If there's some irony in these words, it's kinda lost on us...
