14 DAY TRIAL // Avril Lavigne is once-divorced but that doesn't mean she's lost all her faith in love and the institution of marriage. In fact, she's preparing for another trip down the aisle: she and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger are engaged to be married.
The news comes quite as a shock, especially since, not long ago, Avril was dating Brody Jenner and there was a lot of talk about how they might be getting hitched soon.
Then, after they broke up, she was linked in the press to shock rocker Marilyn Manson and even to some unknown woman whom she was photographed embracing and kissing on the beach on vacation.
People confirms now that Avril and Chad are an item, having started dating about 6 months ago, when they got together to work on a new song.
He is believed to have popped the question to her earlier this month and, while a wedding date has not been announced yet, word has it they might be tying the knot really soon because they're convinced they're made for each other – hence, there's no sense in waiting any more.
“Avril Lavigne and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger's relationship has been so quiet that few even knew they were dating. Now, after a six-month courtship, the Canadian rockers are engaged to be married, Lavigne's rep tells People,” the celebrity publication writes.
People also spoke to sources close to Avril, who also confirm the engagement, adding that the two are clearly very much in love and very happy.
Moreover, their families are also thrilled about the impending marriage.
“A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together,” a spy says. That was in February, when they collaborated on a song.
“He makes her so happy. Both of their families could not be more excited,” adds another unnamed insider.
