14 DAY TRIAL // This past weekend, tabloids had a field day speculating about the wedding of Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger, but confirmation has now emerged that it never took place – for the simple reason that the two set July 1 as their wedding date.
As OMG! Insider notes, word that Avril and Chad were going to be married over the weekend broke after the CEO of Talent Resources, Mike Heller, tweeted that he was in the South of France for the big ceremony.
“I'm in south of France about to see my little Rok star #avril get married I am so happy to be part of this special celebration. No pictures will be sent since this is #avril wedding but I will tell you everyone is so excited,” Heller tweeted on Saturday.
From that to concluding that the ceremony would take place that same day was but a step, but new reports cited by the same media outlet indicate that such a conclusion was premature.
“Despite multiple reports that Canadian rockers Avril Lavigne, 28, and Chad Kroeger, 38, tied the knot on June 29 in the South of France, a source tells omg! that the actual wedding ceremony is scheduled to take place on July 1,” says the publication.
It also writes that Avril has been planning this since she and Chad got engaged last August, in what was probably the most shocking engagement announcement of recent years, if only for the fact that few actually believed reports that they were dating.
Wedding guests have been asked to wear “black-tie fairytale” and to leave all devices that may enable them to take pictures (phones, cameras) at home.
“The best part about the wedding is the location,” Avril said about the ceremony a while back.
“I want to make sure I really enjoy this amazing time and I want all the guests who come to have this once in a lifetime experience. I want everyone to say ‘Wow!’ and for it to be special for everyone, not just us,” she added.
Seeing how she and Chad have been pretty open with the media about their romance, fans should probably expect more details about the wedding towards the end of the week, with a special issue of a US weekly.
