14 DAY TRIAL // When she’s not fending off racism allegations or promoting her new music, Avril Lavigne is plagued by divorce rumors. Considering she and Chad Kroeger, aka one of the most unlikely couples in showbiz, as per many publications, have been married less than a year, it would be sad if there was any truth to these rumors.
They originate from Star magazine, which cites an unnamed insider as saying that these two lovebirds have been fighting a lot in recent months, CelebDirtyLaundry writes. In fact, they have been fighting so much that there’s even talk of divorce.
“Avril Lavigne is having major issues with her husband of less than one year, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger. The couple, who famously have a strict set of marital rules that include no drinking or clubbing when they’re apart, have been fighting more than ever,” Star claims.
“When they first got together, Avril wore the pants. But Chad has reverted back to his old ways and doesn’t check in with her like he used to,” says a pal.
Proof that there might be trouble in (newlywed) paradise comes from the fact that, on her most recent promo outings and in photos she posted to her social media accounts, Avril isn’t wearing her wedding band or the engagement ring Chad proposed to her with.
Because celebrities rarely leave home without these items of jewelry, celebrity pundits assume that there could be at least a smidge of truth to the breakup rumors. It would be a shame to see a whirlwind romance as beautiful as theirs come to such an ending, as fans of both musicians would probably agree.
Avril and Chad met in early 2012 while in the studio working on new music. As per her account, they hit it off immediately and the chemistry was so intense she accepted to go out with him. By September, they had already gotten engaged and, she recalled, they hadn’t even met the in-laws when they decided they would be tying the knot – the very definition of whirlwind.
Last summer, at the fairytale location of Chateau La Napoule in Mandelieu, France, Avril and Chad said their “I Dos” surrounded by family and friends. She wore two wedding gowns: one more traditional in white, and a black one (complete with goth styling) for the reception.
The two have also worked on music together but, sadly, it didn’t get as warm a reception from fans as they probably expected.
