Avira has just announced that it has released a new antivirus application for Android devices, which replaces the old Avira 3.0 that was previously available for download via Google Play.

The new version of Avira has been completely redesigned and new features have been included. New updates will now be delivered in xVDF format and the virus scanning coverage has been drastically improved.

The application will now automatically scan after initial setup (with animations) and, according to the developers, supports profile names and photos.

The “Remote Scream” feature has been renamed “Remote Yell” and users will now be able to test “Yell” and “Locate” within the application. The blacklist feature has been simplified as well.

You can now download Avira for Android 3.1 for free via Google Play Store. Keep in mind that the application should be fully compatible with most devices powered by Android 2.2 and up.
