To get in line with all their competitors, Avira revealed the availability of their new version of anti-virus solutions, which should offer an enhanced protection to individuals and businesses, at the same time eliminating the mind boggling issues that normally come with such software.

“Our guiding philosophy in the design of our 2012 security software was ‘less is more’ – by which we give consumers, micro and small businesses more security protection with less manual configurations and decisions to make,” revealed Sorin Mustaca, product manager and data security expert at Avira.

“In addition to overhauling our code, increasing speed and reducing complexity, we’ve taken on more ownership for automating security settings and resolving software conflicts to install easily and keep our users safe from tricky malware.”

So what does the new product offer?

First of all, the interface was cleaned, all the main features being placed at hand's reach. Some of the components have been renamed so their functionality is better understood and the installation procedure has been fitted with a “2-click” install process that makes the setup of the application easier than ever.

Innovative detection mechanisms have been implemented to make sure that not even the most cunning malware escapes its grasp.

If viruses that attacked AVs were a problem up until now, the fortification brought to the new product makes sure that even if some of the registry keys are attacked, the 2012 software can easily resist.

Premium product owners will now benefit from Live Customer Support which means that in case they encounter any difficulties they can easily get in touch with a technical support engineer who will fix the problem remotely, using the newly implemented Team Viewer feature.

Another interesting feature is the one that informs the user about the potentially incompatible security solution that might already be installed on the device. Incompatible applications are automatically detected and removed, allowing for compatible third party solutions to be kept.

Avira’s 2012 security software is available at the moment for English and German speakers, but it will soon be released in French, Japanese and Chinese.

Besides the free version we're accustomed to, Avira also offers Avira Antivirus Premium 2012 for 19,95€ ($26), Avira Internet Security 2012 for 39,95€($52), Avira Professional Security for 26,30€ ($34) and Avira Server Security for 269,00€ ($354).
