Avira Products Compatible with Windows 8 in 2013
The German company is working closely with Microsoft to solve the conflict
Most applications have no problem running on Windows 8, but in some cases the changes to the operating system’s platform are too much and conflicts may arise. Such is the case with Avira, as a post on their support page notes that their consumer products are not yet compatible with Windows 8.The company announces that they’re working with Microsoft in order to achieve the compatibility between the two products, which will be complete in the first quarter of 2013.
At the moment, trying to install an Avira product on Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012 will result in either a Windows BSOD or crashing of the Avira software.
However, in order to spare users from such experience, the Program Compatibility Assistant dialog in Windows automatically pops up and informs of the conflict.
In the case of an upgrade, the application can only be uninstalled manually. In the meantime, you can still enjoy Avira software on Windows 7.
