Avira Operations GmbH & Co KG has released an updated version of its free Mac security software to include a redesigned user interface to match the new corporate design, scan improvements, scheduled updates, and more.

“Avira Free Antivirus is an award-winning product that provides comprehensive protection against all types of threats, secures your data, protects your privacy and ensures your PC remains virus-free,” according to its creators.

Avira Free Mac Security 2.0.4.58 includes a new corporate-centric design, as well as other minor GUI improvements, scan performance improvements, and additional license text in the product help menu.

Numerous issues are addressed. For example, some unnecessary windows have been removed from the Scheduled Update and Scheduled Scan modules, the software now supports scanning on network shares, fixes general problems with socket files and an issue with FMS, etc.

All problems with onaccess protection failing to quarantine files on MBA should be gone. The same goes for an issue with onaccess protection not doing what is expected with file permissions.

Avira claims its security app detects 99.99% of all existing malware with cloud-based scanning “for unparalleled security and lightning fast performance.” Download Avira Free Mac Security 2.0.4.58 for your Mac today.
