Averatec is challenging your imagination by launching the contest "It's About Me" that tries to unleash the artist hidden in every one of us. If you want to create the company's next notebooks' design, you can register on the official website and then send five masterpieces. The contest is also opened for public voting and, who knows, maybe you will win.

The prizes are spectacular, as the chosen high-tech decorator will get an Averatec 7100 Series 17" notebook and the other ten pretty nice and full-featured Voya 350 Portable Handheld GPS Navigation systems.

It seems like the company is trying to 'adjust' its looks, after it has launched several classic, Dell-resembling notebooks. The last one of them was the Averatec 1100, a workstation coming in only 3.4 pounds, and measuring less than a piece of letter sized paper (10.47"(W) x 7.97"(D) x 1.16" - 1.36"(H).

Furthermore, the 1100 delivers high-performance processing for demanding applications as it is powered by Intel Pentium M Processor Ultra Low Voltage 733 CPU and includes 400 MHz Front Side Bus, 2MB L2 Cache, 1GB System RAM upgradeable to 2GB and 80GB Hard Drive.

Because it was designed for multimedia applications and, of course, mobility, Averatec's notebook has a 10.6" WXGA widescreen supporting up to 1280x768 hi-def resolution based on AveraBrite LCD Technology, an enhanced mixture of Intel's best Centrino Mobile Technology with ULV Processor, high speed wireless communications and advanced storage options.

Moreover, you can utilize 1100 up to five hours because of an extended battery life, a good timing, even if we have seen better. Averatec's latest product offers a 4-in-1 Media Card Reader, Dual Layer DVD Burner, and several ports such as high Speed USB 2.0 ports, IEEE 1394 FireWire port, Type II PCMCIA/CardBus Slot and for a 15-pin Standard External VGA Display.
