To compete with ASUS' upcoming Eee Top

It appears that the ASUS Eee Top, the all-in-one desktop PC formerly known as the Eee Monitor, will not be the only Atom-powered all-in-one PC on the market. Averatec, the company that has already showed its all-in-one desktop PC earlier this year, announced yesterday the availability of yet another such system. However, unlike the first system that was even considered a serious competitor for Apple's iMac, the newly announced all-in-one PC comes to make use of Intel's netbook-loving Atom processor.

Although it will probably compete with ASUS' upcoming Eee Top, the new All-in-One from Averatec does provide some distinctive and unique features. Averatec's product comes with an 18.4-inch form factor, unlike the 15.6-inch on ASUS' Eee Top, making it offer users a richer visual experience.

Aside from that, the system is basically built on the same configuration as most of the other netbooks currently available on the market. It equips an Intel Atom processor running at 1.6GHz, 1GB of system memory, 160GB of storage, and built-in WLAN. Obviously, the system will be equipped with a Windows XP Home operating system.

The company announced that the new 18.4-inch, Atom-powered all-in-one system would become available in retail at major online resellers and through the company's online shop, at an MSRP of $549.99. Unfortunately, Averatec hasn't specified any date of availability for the new all-in-one system, but we will try to update on the story, as soon as details are made public.

In related news, Averatec is now shipping its Buddy netbook that the company announced last month. For a price tag of $449, you can also benefit from the performance of a 10-inch netbook running on Intel's Atom, and delivering 1GB of system memory and 160GB of storage space. The netbook packs a 3-cell battery that many users might not find enough for a good battery life.
