Yet another Atom-powered netbook

Trigem USA has announced today the official introduction of its first netbook system for the US market. Simply dubbed Averatec Buddy, the new model has been released to compete with all the other recently released 10-inch netbooks from established vendors such as ASUS, MSI, Acer and HP. As you might expect, this one is built on the same Intel Atom-supporting platform as most of the other sub-notebooks currently on the market.

Based in Orange County, California, Trigem, with its Averatec brand, isn't the biggest name on the computer system market, although it can deliver some impressive models, especially if you take a look at its iMac competitor, All-in-One desktop. In addition, it can also provide its customers with quite a few portable computer systems, including the newly released Buddy netbook, which is expected to become available later this year, through the company's website and major online retailers.

Getting right down to the technical specifications, the new Buddy has been designed as yet another Intel Atom-powered netbook, meant to deliver the basics in ultra-portable computing experience. Powered by a 1.6GHz Atom N270 CPU, the Averatec Buddy comes with a 10.2-inch display and a total of 160GB of system memory. The netbook will run Microsoft's Windows XP Home operating system and will deliver a maximum of 1GB of system memory.

"The timing and launch of Buddy is a welcomed addition for our customer base. Buddy as well as our all new 18.4-inch All-In-One desktop will clearly emphasize our commitment to our customers and our desire to be on the leading edge of these emerging computer trends," commented Darren Lee, director of marketing at Trigem USA. "It has been an exciting time for us, the scope and breadth of our product line really caters to what our market has been asking for."

The company hasn't detailed all the technical specifications of the netbook, but, as you might expect from such a device, it will come with a built-in WLAN. Details on pricing have not been provided.
