Chris Avellone, one of the leaders of developer Obsidian, says that the recent success of Kickstarter funding drive for titles like Project Eternity is drawing the attention of some publishers, who are now once more interested in role-playing titles.

He tells the audience at Rezzed, quoted by Strategy Informer, that, “I did not realise there would be that sort of sea change from publishers, but apparently there are a number of publishers that realise that doing an Eternity-style game is a good fit for them, and I am thankful for that.”

Avellone has been involved in the creation of successful Kickstarter projects like Eternity, Torment: Tides of Numenera and Wasteland 2.

Obsidian has been delivering constant updates on their development process for their crowdfunded game, which is not in pre-alpha state.
