Avatar: The Last Airbender takes the player to a fantasy world where he can meet humans, fantastic animals and supernatural spirits. There are four main nations that make up the human
part of the fantasy world - we have Water Tribes, an Earth Kingdom, the Air Nomads and a Fire Nation. Because of the fact that each is based upon the existence of one of the fundamental elements, the nations don't exactly see eye to eye on a variety of issues. However, inside each of them, "benders" are to be found, humans that have the ability to manipulate the basic element on which each society is based in a variety of forms.
In the game, the player can take control over four main characters: Aang, Katara, Haru and Sokka. The main adventure of the game involves the four characters working together to stop the evil Fire Nation from dominating their fantasy world. In what might seem like a Star Wars like twist, Aang is the only one of the four that can bring balance to the four elements as he battles his enemies, since he is the current Avatar, a form of the spirit that animates the entire planet.
Each of the characters is unique in the way it performs fighting moves and in what special abilities it can perform. As experience is gained by defeating enemies, more and more special abilities become available, together with a wide array of loot drops, like armor, healing potions, accessories (some of which are also enchanted).
The main enemies are machines and Firebenders, as seen on the television show on which the game is based.
GAMEPLAY HINTS
Unlimited experience
When you are engaged in battle, you can go back later to get more experience.
Destroying the fire machine
This is the machine you must fight in order to find Katara. Try and dodge the fire bending. The trick is to run left to right then right to left. Continue this until you see a flashing light near it. It is your chance to attack. Hit it with Aang. You need to use a Chi attack but a plain attack can work as well, with the disadvantage that it takes more time. You will have Saka fighting with you to do double damage. After about a quarter way down on HP, the machine will start throwing fire around. Stay at a safe distance. It constitutes no real threat to your or your partner as long as you stay as far away as possible.
Use the Avatar to use your first special two or three times, then repeatedly press X when the object near your Chi bar says "Master Block".
