Avast for Android Has Call/SMS Filtering and Anti-Theft Features

avast! has had this product in the works for a while now and they managed to get it out of beta yesterday. Avast Mobile Security focuses on more security aspects than protection against malware. It has been developed to be stealthy, to offer remote-access features and keep your droid safe from malware.

Despite the impressive set of features it encompasses, avast! Mobile Security has been released as a freebie. Real-time protection is at the top of the list but some of the components, such as firewall, are not available in any other reputable protection app designed for Android devices.

Furthermore, some of them are not even available in similar paid products.

Some of the most impressive are call and SMS filtering, web shield, SIM-change notification, firewall and application manager.

It looks like Avast is determined to sink its teeth into a huge chunk of market share of mobile security, as it released more like a security suite for Android than a simple antivirus.
