A hacker that uses the online moniker Dr.Sha6h has defaced avast.co.rs with a protest message against the violence in Syria.

“When patience and children being killed and women [abused]! Three years in a row and there is no solution to the blood in Syria?” the hacker wrote on the defaced site.

While the website may appear to belong to Avast Serbia, in reality, it does not.

The company’s representatives have told me that the avast.co.rs website does not belong to Avast Software. The IT security firm is currently trying to recover several domain names that are owned by third-party organizations.

A similar incident occurred in March, when Turkish hackers defaced avast.de, another domain that the company was trying to recover.

At the time of writing, Avast.co.rs has been restored. Avast is not the only antivirus provider targeted by Dr.Sha6h. In September, he hacked the website of a Slovenia-based Avira distributor.
