AVAST Software continues development of the next free version of its anti-virus, so today, the company rolled out an updated beta build that comes with almost the same feature lineup as the stable flavor expected to come out in the next couple of months.

Avast! Free Antivirus 9.0.2019 R4 is said to come with improved security, as the parent company is trying to enhance protection of user details and make sure that no negative impact is detected on system security.

“We handle the conditions for the Guest account better, we are very senstitive for any incorrect inputs from the user with a negative impact on the system's security, or, we tuned the import settings functionality not to allow bypassing any protections,” the company said in the release notes of today's new launch.

The installer also comes with a resume option, so you can now pause the downloading process in case it takes more time to get all the necessary components. Avast says that this should come in handy especially on computers with slower Internet connections where it takes more time to install the application.

At the same time, version 9.0.2019 R4 Beta also comes with a new anti-spam library that's currently available in Internet Security and Premier editions, offering better accuracy and thus blocking more illegitimate emails.

Another improvement available in this version concerns the popups shown to users, as AVAST decided to no longer promote its paid products using the free builds. “We've added ability to disable promotion popups (in PRO/IS/Premier editions). We strongly believe that our additional products can be valuable for you, but we also respect your will not to be bothered by such offers,” the company explained.

Additionally, it also features new warnings displayed during the installation process “if there could be some obvious problems resulting in not 100% functionality after the installation (missing admin rights, insufficient space on disk, etc.),” the release notes reveal, while a static analysis of the code helped improve many more fixes.

Keep in mind that this new release is still part of the beta development stage, so it's not yet recommended for production machines where stability might be a critical point. The application continues to offer support for all Windows versions on the market, including Windows XP, which no longer receives updates and security patches from Microsoft.

Overall, this is an update that should come in handy to many users, so download Avast! Free Antivirus 9.0.2019 R4 to get all the above mentioned improvements right away.
